Fake news: What exactly is it – and how can you spot it?

“Fake news” was not a term many people used 18 months ago, but it is now seen as one of the greatest threats to democracy, free debate and the Western order.

Fake news is a type of yellow journalism or propaganda that consists of deliberate misinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional print and broadcast news media or online social media. It’s written and published with the intent to mislead in order to damage an agency, entity, or person, and/or gain financially or politically, often using sensationalist, dishonest, or outright fabricated headlines to increase readership, online sharing, and Internet click revenue.

It’s Donald Trump’s favorite term and named 2017’s word of the year, raising tensions between nations, and may lead to regulation of social media.

So the next time you watch and read the news, be more attentive and focused to know if the news is real or not.

洋平の中国語レッスン日記

練習会話の中で使う単語の数が増えてきて、思い出すが大変になってきました。

あと、文章を話そうとすると、やはりイントネーション　１声、２声、３声、４声、が、ごちゃごちゃになってしまいます。

いちいちノートを見ながら、「この言葉は第何声だったけ～」なんてしながらだと、もう間に合わないし、💦ということで、今は先生のお手本を聞いたらすぐに、何も考えずに、ただ真似するようにしています。前にも書きましたが、中国語は歌を歌っている感覚にちかいので、歌のレッスンだと思って、リピートすると、以外にも、先生はOKをくれたりします。

単語も面白いものがありました。

日本語でnewspaper は「新聞」ですが、
中国語の「新聞」はnewsなんですね。
そして中国語では「消息」もnews という意味なんです。

Heavy snow in the forecast for Tokyo area from Jan. 22-23

Snow may accumulate in Tokyo and surrounding areas between Jan. 22 and 23, possibly wreaking havoc on public transportation during the heavy commute, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The agency said coastal areas of the Kanto region and elsewhere on the Pacific side of Japan will see snow or rain starting on Jan. 22 due to a strong low-pressure system.

Heavy snow is expected for mountainous areas of the Kanto region, as well as Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures.

The southern part of the Kanto Plain, including the capital and the metropolitan area, may see an accumulation of snow as well, according to the agency.

The agency warned of a possible disruption in public transportation systems due to the snowfall.
